The Moon’s Permanently Shadowed Regions – NASA

Thanks to new data from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, we can now see into the craters on the dark side of the Moon with incredible detail.

Due to the axis of the Moon being nearly perpendicular to the direction of the sun’s light, there are some parts that have not seen sunlight for hundreds of millions of years.
