The Geminid Meteor Shower

Interesting information on the the Geminid meteor shower peaks on Dec. 13th and 14th when Earth runs through a stream of debris from a strange object that some astronomers are calling a “rock comet.”  However some Scientists are still not sure of the source and research still continues.

The meteors from this shower are slow moving, with the date of highest intensity being the morning of the 14th. The shower is thought to be intensifying every year and recent showers have seen 120–160 meteors per hour under optimal conditions. The
Geminids were first observed in 1862.
