Are We Alone In The Universe?

The search for intelligent alien life in the Universe has been going on for over forty years. Taking into account the vastness of the Universe and our extremely limited technology it is not surprising that we have not found anything yet. In fact some say it would have been a miracle if we had found something. Yet our desire to know that we are not alone means that we continue to pump resources into searching the heavens for that elusive signal.

SETI, Search For Extraterrestrial Intelligence, is a collective name for a number of projects that are currently being run to search for intelligent extraterrestrial life. One of these projects is SETI@Home. This allows ordinary individuals all over the planet to participate by running a programme that downloads and analyses telescope data.
