Surprising Discovery of Oxygen on the Comet 67P

Scientists on the Rosetta mission unexpectedly detected large quantities of oxygen around the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. One of the theories they have, explains that oxygen dates back to the formation period of the comet, and now, its residue lies hidden in icy cracks on the comet’s surface.
