NASA’s New Image Reveals a Deep Pit on Mars’ South Pole

Using NASA‘s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), scientists have captured a new image of Mars’ surface that reveals a deep pit on its southern hemisphere. The appearance of the mysterious pit on Mars’ “Swiss cheese terrain” puzzled scientists. They are not quite sure whether something outside or inside the pit has caused it.
