Here Carl Sagan discusses black holes and the gravitational effect on light. He also touches on wormholes, which may be gateways to future interstellar travel. This is video is an extract taken from ‘Cosmos’ episode 9. The ‘Cosmos’ series was first aired in 1980 and was the most widely watched series in the history of American public television until 1990. As of 2009, it was still the most widely watched Public Broadcasting Series in the world and has been broadcast in more than 60 countries and seen by over 500 million people.

A wormhole is a feature of spacetime that is essentially a tunnel between two points in space and time. There is no observational evidence for wormholes, but they do exist on a theoretical level in the theory of relativity.
