When Two Galaxies Collide

The Chandra X-Ray Telescope has been used to make a detailed study of an enormous cloud of hot gas enveloping two large, colliding galaxies.

Each of the galaxies is as big as our own and this area of space long been known as the site of a collision between two large spiral galaxies.
