Red Star, U Antliae, Ejects Smoky Bubble of Gas

Using the Atacama Large Millimeter/ Submillimeter Array (ALMA), astronomers have captured an aging star, U Antliae, that is surrounded by a smoky bubble. They believe that studying the carbon star and its expelled dust may help them understand better what happens to aging stars in the end of their lives.
