Mars ‘Curiosity Rover’ Mission Animation

– “For You To Enjoy And Share With Friends” –

A quite amazing animation of the ‘Curiosity Rover’ mission. ‘Curiosity’ is the next planned visitor to Mars by NASA and is scheduled to land in August 2012. The mission has planned  a quite revolutionary landing system using rockets and it will be interesting to see if the landing goes as planned.

Curiosity was launched on November 26, 2011 and it is scheduled to land in Gale Crater on August 6, 2012. The Rover will search for life as well as studying the climate, the geology and collecting data for any future manned mission to Mars. Curiosity is about five times larger than the previous two exploration rovers, Spirit and Opportunity and carries over ten times the amount of analysis instruments. It is designed for an exploration period of 1 Mars year which equates to about 687 Earth days. However, if ‘Curiosity’ is as successful as ‘Opportunity’, it is hoped that it will carry on for much longer.
