Close Encounter with Jupiter and Earth This Week

Earth and Jupiter have a close encounter every 13 months. It happens when the two planets come into opposition. During this month, Jupiter will appear as the brightest star in our sky, even brighter than Sirius, the most luminous star. It will rise in the east at the sunset.
